The handmade Mulia lampshade consists of flat rattan fibres that are carefully woven into a sturdy metal frame. The sculptural step-like design gives Mulia an extraordinary radiance. The steps are deliberately arranged so that they are not perfectly even or straight, giving the lampshade an organic and natural look that sets it apart from our other rattan lampshades.

For Mulia, the rattan is simply steamed and rolled without any further processing. This allows it to retain its natural light colour and fibrous texture. From the first touch, you feel the quality of a genuine natural product, made with dedication and craftsmanship. The material is very light, which makes the installation of Mulia much easier compared to heavy metal or solid wood lampshades.

The rattan lamp ships without cable and bulb. However, you can easily find these in any DIY store. This gives you the freedom to adapt Mulia to your own style and needs.

Main material: Rattan

Rattan palms tend to grow in large numbers in dense forests, where they are considered invasive plants, taking up space from other plants and drawing many nutrients from the soil. The stems, which grow back quickly without any chemical additives, must be cut off regularly and can then be used as material for furniture and baskets after the drying process. This makes rattan an extremely sustainable and abundantly available material.

This lampshade is handmade in Bali, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we value fair pay and good working conditions. In the factories from which we purchase our goods, we only work with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Since all work steps are done by hand, the production process hardly generates any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
