Our mixed wall decor sets use a selection of natural fibers, all of which share the qualities of growing quickly, sustainably, and in abundance. Rattan grows in natural rainforests, and harvesting it helps preserve these ecosystems; bamboo and raffia are fast-growing and already widely cultivated; while water hyacinth is an invasive species in Indonesia, overtaking many waterways and making its use an eco-friendly choice.

This wall decor set is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local production partners, we emphasise fair payment, safe working conditions and reasonable working hours. We work exclusively with small family businesses that have a maximum of 20 to 30 employees. They are all experienced craftspeople of legal age. Older people in particular, who can no longer work in agriculture, benefit from jobs in handicrafts, allowing them to use the skills they have learnt from an early age to earn money and pass on traditional production methods to the younger generation. They have often told us how happy they are to be able to create something meaningful with this work and earn a good living. As all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.

For our wall decor pieces, the plant fibers are first cut and dried by skilled artisans at our production partners in the Central Java province of Indonesia. Raffia is often twisted into cords. The fibers are then carefully woven by hand into the desired shapes. Creating a five-piece wall decor set takes approximately three hours in total.
