With this exotic round lampshade you can create your very own favorite spot in your home. The extra-long raffia fringes catch the eye and make Kawi one of the absolute highlights among our lampshades.

Due to the loose braiding at the top of the lampshade, the light casts a fascinating pattern on your ceiling. The lampshade features a ring for attaching the bulb holder and is reinforced with a metal frame to maintain its round shape over time. For Kawi, you can choose from two different sizes, which are 40 and 50 cm in diameter.

The lampshade comes without bulbs and cables. However, these are available in your preferred colour and length in any DIY store.

Main material: Raffia

Our lampshades are made from plant fibers. They therefore wonderfully smell and feel like nature.

Raffia (Corypha utan) occurs naturally in the steppe and forest areas of Southeast Asia. About every two years, the plant renews its leaves and sheds the old ones, which are then collected by humans, dried in the sun for a few days to weeks and processed into wickerwork, depending on the desired degree of browning. The relative rarity and the higher processing effort make this material somewhat more expensive compared to other plant fibers. While it is hardly known in Europe, the material has proven itself with the local population in Southeast Asia in the form of all kinds of everyday objects and is very popular due to its pleasantly soft, but robust nature.

When selecting our local producers, we value fair pay and good working conditions. Only adult and experienced artisans work in the companies from which we purchase our goods. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Since all work steps are done by hand, the production process hardly generates any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
